On October 20th, 2025, Vietnam Maritime University (VMU) had the great honor of welcoming the Korea Maritime and Ocean University (KMOU) Delegation, represented by Prof. Dr. Kim Junghoon.
On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Kim Junghoon expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm reception from VMU. He emphasized the traditional cooperation between the two Universities, as well as VMU’s remarkable achievements in recent years.

VMU Standing Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Son warmly reaffirmed the importance of enhancing international cooperation in education and scientific research especially in strengthening collaboration with KMOU, which plays a crucial role in improving education and research quality in line with Decision No. 1901/QĐ-TTg dated September 5th, 2025, by the Prime Minister on the approval of the project on developing Vietnam Maritime University into a national key university for training and research to serve the sustainable development of the seaward economy in the period to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

During the meeting, both Universities agreed to proceed with signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). These documents aim to strengthen academic cooperation through faculty and student exchanges, joint research projects, and the development of an articulation program, which is expected to be signed at the Asia Maritime and Fisheries Universities Forum (AMFUF) in Indonesia from October 22nd to 24th, 2025.

After the meeting, the KMOU Delegation visited the T/S VMU VIET-HAN, a symbol of friendship and long-term cooperation between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.
