Vietnam Maritime University participated in the 25th Annual General Assembly of the International Association of Maritime Universities

From October 15th to 18th, 2025, VMU President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Duong led the Delegation to attend the 25th Annual General Assembly (AGA) of the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU), which was held in India.

Vietnam Maritime University attended the 25th IAMU AGA

The 25th IAMU AGA was held under the theme “Disruptive Technologies and Innovations for Sustainable Maritime Practices”, focusing on emerging trends in maritime education and training (MET), particularly the integration of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) into MET and maritime management.

The Presidents’ Forum focused on discussing strategies to enhance the quality of global maritime human resources.

On this occasion, VMU signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Dalian Maritime University, China, and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET), India. These agreements aim to strengthen academic cooperation through faculty and student exchanges, joint research projects, and the development of shared training programs. The Delegation also discussed the upcoming MoU exchange ceremony with the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy, Bulgaria, which is expected to take place in late October 2025.

VMU signed MoA with Dalian Maritime University, China and MoU with the Academy of Maritime Education and Training, India.

The significant outcomes achieved at IAMU AGA 2025 mark an important milestone in improving education and research quality in line with Decision No. 1901/QĐ-TTg dated September 5th, 2025, by the Prime Minister approving the project on developing Vietnam Maritime University into a national key university for training and research to serve the sustainable development of the seaward economy in the period to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

The visit further strengthened the partnership between VMU and other IAMU member universities
