In the period from November 24th to 28th, 2025, in Can Tho, Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Administration, in collaboration with Vietnam Maritime University, organized a Training program on Port and Vessel Management for Laos PDR officials.
The Program was attended by 20 officials from Department of Waterways and other authorities of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport Lao PDR.

With a rich history of nearly 70 years, VMU has made great contributions to providing highly qualified human resources for the national seaword economy as well as transportation industry, VMU collaborated with the Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Administration to provide fundamental knowledge of port operations and management, inland waterway transport; enhancing professional competence as well as operational and management skills in the field of waterway transportation.

Overview of the Training program
In line with Decision No. 1901/QĐ-TTg dated September 5th, 2025, by the Prime Minister on the approval of the project on developing Vietnam Maritime University into a national key university for training and research to serve the sustainable development of the seaward economy in the period to 2030, with a vision toward 2045, the coordination in organizing this Training program once again affirms the University’s role, reputation, and training capacity in the fields of maritime and inland waterway transport.
The Program served as a symbol of friendship and long-term cooperation between Vietnam and Laos./.
