Vietnam Maritime University welcomed the Representatives of the Embassy of France to Vietnam

On the morning of July 27, 2026, Vietnam Maritime University (VMU) welcomed the Representatives of the Embassy of France to Vietnam for a working session aimed at strengthening cooperation in maritime education, research, and sustainable development.

During the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Duc, Vice President of VMU, introduced the University's educational and research capabilities, as well as its strategic development orientation, particularly its ongoing implementation of the Government’s project to develop Vietnam Maritime University into a key national university specializing in education and research for the sustainable development of the maritime economy. He highlighted the University's continuous efforts to enhance academic quality, expand international cooperation, and modernize its training and research facilities in accordance with international standards.

Overview of the working session

On this occasion, the Vice President expressed his sincere appreciation to the Embassy of France's Global Port Safety (GPS) Project. Through the introduction and coordination of the Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Administration, two VMU lecturers had the opportunity to participate in the PS UNIV Higher Education Programme on Maritime Decarbonisation and Safety, held in Cyprus and France from April 20 to May 15, 2026. The programme provided valuable knowledge and practical experience in maritime decarbonization, environmental protection, and maritime safety, contributing to the University's efforts to improve teaching quality and develop high-quality human resources for the maritime sector.

Representing the Embassy of France, Mr. Servan Carrier thanked Vietnam Maritime University for its warm welcome and highly appreciated the University’s achievements in maritime education and international cooperation. He also proposed several potential areas for future collaboration, including alternative fuels, carbon emission reduction, maritime safety, and other fields aligned with the University's strengths and France's expertise.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of both sides to strengthening cooperation in education, research, and capacity building. It also opened up new opportunities for future collaborative initiatives, contributing to the sustainable development of the maritime sector and further enhancing the long-standing partnership between Vietnam Maritime University and the Embassy of France to Vietnam.
