INTRODUCTION TO THE SCIENTIFIC JOURNALS OF VIETNAM MARITIME UNIVERSITY (VMU)

Vietnam Maritime University (VMU) proudly sponsors and publishes two highly respected peer-reviewed scientific journals. Operating under License No. 78/GP-BVHTTDL granted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on July 21, 2025, and led by Editor-in-Chief Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Duc, these journals serve as prestigious academic platforms for researchers, policymakers, and industry experts worldwide.

Below is the detailed information regarding our two journal systems:

1. Journal of Marine Science and Technology (JMST)

Overview: Established in 2004, the Journal of Marine Science and Technology (JMST) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes high-quality research on science, technology, engineering, economics, and maritime policies. It acts as a reputable academic forum connecting scientists and experts to promote new research, technological solutions, and sustainable development policies in the maritime and marine economy sectors.

  • ISSN: 1859-316X | e-ISSN: 3093-3161
  • Language & Format: Published in Vietnamese, available in both print and electronic formats.
  • Publication Frequency: Quarterly, with issues released at the end of January, April, July, and November.
  • Target Audience: Domestic and international researchers, lecturers, PhD students, engineers, managers, policymakers, and maritime enterprises.

2. International Journal of Marine Science and Technology (IJMST)

Overview: To solidify VMU's international standing and meet global academic standards, the International Journal of Marine Science and Technology (IJMST) was separated from the original JMST to publish exclusively in English. IJMST is dedicated to continuously enhancing the quality of its published articles and its online editorial system, providing a platform for local and international scientists to exchange groundbreaking research findings.

Quality Assurance & Indexing

  • E-ISSN: 3093-3609
  • Indexing & Standards: IJMST is indexed in Google Scholar. All published papers are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and registered with Crossref.
  • Academic Integrity: Every submission undergoes a rigorous peer-review process and is thoroughly checked for similarity using Turnitin to prevent plagiarism and ensure academic integrity.
