On July 25th, the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi featured the recent visit of Ambassador Marc E. Knapper, U.S. Ambassador in Vietnam, to Vietnam Maritime University (VMU) on the official Facebook page. The visit, which took place on July 16, is part of a series of events commemorating the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States.

VMU has maintained long-standing relationships with U.S. partners since the 1990s through advanced training programs, academic exchanges (Fulbright, ELIC), visits and exchange activities with the U.S. Navy and Embassy. Notably, the collaboration with California Maritime Academy has brought international learning opportunities to thousands of students. VMU students have also achieved outstanding results, including two Silver Medals at the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship in 2021 and 2023, organized by Microsoft and Certiport, held in Orlando, U.S.
The Embassy praised the growing partnership in education and maritime training, reaffirming Ambassador Knapper’s commitment to expanding international cooperation in these fields. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Duong, President of VMU, expressed the University’s determination to strengthen the relationships with the United States partners, aiming to take the cooperation to a new level and achieve even greater success in the future.
