Acting Director General of the Department of Waterways of Lao PDR visited Vietnam Maritime University

On July 28th, Vietnam Maritime University (VMU) welcomed Mr. Phonephana Phrommala - Acting Director General of the Department of Waterways of Lao PDR, along with the Delegation from the Department for an official visit.

Overall of the warm welcome

Mr. Phrommala expressed his sincere appreciation for the University’s warm hospitality and reaffirmed the long-standing, strong cooperation between the two sides.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Duong, President of VMU, introduced VMU’s academic programs and reaffirmed the commitment to offering full scholarships for Lao students at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs. The President also emphasized that VMU is ready to send lecturers to support training in Laos, especially in logistics, maritime management, port management, shipbuilding, among others.

The Delegation also visited VMU’s key facilities for education and training, including the Japan-Mekong Regional Logistics Training Center in Viet Nam and the Bridge Simulator.

The visit further strengthened the longstanding partnership between VMU and Lao PDR, in line with the Memorandum of Understanding on comprehensive cooperation in the field of waterway transportation between Viet Nam and Lao PDR, signed in Vientiane in 2023.
