On March 10th, 2026, Vietnam Maritime University (VMU), in collaboration with the Vietnam Maritime and Inland Waterways Administration, and the Overseas Coastal Area Development Institute of Japan (OCDI), hosted the second seminar of the “Technical Assistance Project on the Development, Dissemination of the Written Guidelines for the National Technical Standards for Seaport Facilities and Capacity Building for the Management, Exploitation and Maintenance of Seaport Facilities in Viet Nam” in Hai Phong.
The Seminar gathered over 100 delegates, including managers, experts and scientists from both Vietnam and abroad who are working in the field of seaports and maritime infrastructure.

Within the framework of the Seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Duc, Vice President of Vietnam Maritime University, and Mr. Hisao Ouchi, Team Leader Port Technical Standards Administration at OCDI, discussed cooperation activities related to the event.

The Seminar focused on discussions regarding the development and completion of the National Technical Standards for Seaport Facilities and Capacity Building for the Management, Exploitation and Maintenance of Seaport Facilities in Vietnam. Presentations and discussions addressed key topics such as improving the seaport technical standards system to ensure greater consistency and modernization, promoting green port infrastructure, and proposing solutions to enhance the efficiency of management, operation and maintenance of port facilities, as well as improving their resilience to challenges poses by climate change.

Through these discussions, the Seminar received numerous valuable comments and practical insights that will contribute to the continued development and dissemination of the seaport technical standards system in Vietnam. At the same time, it further strengthened the effective cooperation among management agencies, educational institutions and international partners in the field of maritime infrastructure development./.
