The Inauguration Ceremony of the New Academic Year 2025 - 2026 at Vietnam Maritime University

On the morning of September 23rd, 2025, Vietnam Maritime University (VMU) solemnly organized the Inauguration Ceremony of the New Academic Year 2025 - 2026. This important event marked the beginning of a new academic year with objectives and high expectations.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Xuan Sang, together with leaders of ministries, agencies, universities, the Navy and Coast Guard, diplomatic missions, and both domestic and international partners.

Representing VMU were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khac Khiem, Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the University Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Duong, President, and 5,400 new students of Cohort 66.

Overview of the Inauguration Ceremony of the New Academic Year 2025 - 2026

In his address, President of Vietnam Maritime University Pham Xuan Duong highlighted the outstanding achievements in the 2024-2025 academic year regarding admission, scientific research, digital transformation, and international cooperation, as well as the University’s nearly 70-year tradition of “Wisdom - Creativity - Responsibility - Humanity.”

As a result, Vietnam Maritime University was honored to receive numerous awards from the Ministry of Construction and Hai Phong City, especially on September 19th, 2025, the President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam awarded the First-Class Labor Medal to Vietnam Maritime University for outstanding achievements in applying science and technology, innovating training methods, and developing high-quality maritime human resources, thereby making significant contributions to the development of national seaward economy.

Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Xuan Sang acknowledged the University’s lecturers and staff for their strong efforts in effectively implementing activities in education, training, research, and international cooperation during the last academic year.

Especially, Deputy Minister Nguyen Xuan Sang congratulated the University on receiving Decision No. 1901/QĐ-TTg dated September 5th, 2025, by the Prime Minister on approving the Project “Developing Vietnam Maritime University into a national key university for training and research to serve the sustainable development of the seaward economy until 2030, with a vision to 2045”.

Additionally, the ceremony highlighted the scholarship contributions of traditional partners and presented awards for the highest entrance score to 15 new students.
