On December 27th, 2025, Vietnam Maritime University (VMU) held the Opening Ceremony of the University - level Olympic Competition for the 2025-2026 academic year. The event was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Thuan, Vice President of the University, leaders of relevant units, subject coordinators, and a large number of participating students.
The University - level Olympic Competition is an annual academic activity aimed at promoting excellence in teaching, learning, and scientific research across the University. The competition attracted 567 student registrations, with 460 contestants competing in 16 subjects. It serves as a foundation for selecting and forming student teams to represent the University in the National Student Olympic Competitions in 2026.

At the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Thuan, Vice President of VMU, underscored the University’s strong commitment to fostering student innovation in learning and scientific research. In 2025, VMU’ students competed in 13 national-level Olympic subjects and secured 56 awards, marking the highest achievement in the past decade and a meaningful milestone in celebration of the University’s 70th anniversary.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Thuan further noted that VMU was honored to host the National Mechanics Olympic (Northern Region) in 2025. At the 35th National Mechanics Olympic, 46 outstanding students selected through the University - level rounds competed in six disciplines and earned 24 awards, reaffirming the University’s training quality, academic reputation, and capacity in engineering and technology, while further promoting the image of a high-quality learning and research environment nationwide.

The competition results and the list of University teams representing Vietnam Maritime University at the National Student Olympiad will be officially announced to students and published on the website of the University’s Training Department at http://daotao.vimaru.edu.vn/, creating a foundation for outstanding students to continue their training and achieve higher results in national and international academic competitions.
